Avast 6.0 performed fairly well, however I was not happy with tech support. I uninstalled it, and downloaded a competitor's product. It was then I discovered that Avast does not completely remove it's files. It has slowed my PC's performance, and I haven't to date found a product to completely remove it. To say I'm not happy with Avast would be putting it mildly. If they want to compete with the better, higher priced companies. I suggest they stop using malware tactics, and provide their on tech support.

AV without apropriate firewall???that is 70% or more of security!!!and realy heavy on resources,even on powerful machines too…

I was using AD-WARE TOTAL SECURITY for some time, until I was hit by a virus which it did not detect, but other programmes did. I have chucked AIS and replaced it with another.

Seems like Norton is going backwards. Ever since I got Norton 360 (through my subscription service) I could not download the virus protection with wireless connection. When taking it to a computer repair place, the tech told me that I had to manually connect my laptop to the server to download the new virus updates. What a pain! What's the sense of having wireless if you have to connect it daily to your server to get the latest protection? I may be looking for another virus protection service.

The only problems I have had with the Avast 6.0 is the tec support which is contracted to iyogi. I had a 12 month subscription with iyogi for a cost of $170.00 and found them to be a night mare to say the least and uninstalled their support dock after just 7 months only to have them to deal with again. It came to no surprise that they were not able to fix the safe zone problem I am having.

the best i have seen is norton anti-virus……but it takes much of the computers performance(if u are using a high processor ,ram etc then it is good 4 u), eset antivirus is good

Thanks. I used to stick with Eset Nod before but now i switch to Vipre Antivirus because of its performance.

You should always uninstall any previous version of your anti-virus client first. Your experience should NOT be unique and in most cases of me installing Norton I have had no issue.

What I would do if I were you is a system restore to restore your computer to an earlier time. http://www.removevirus.org/how-to-do-a-system-restore.html

another thought is that you need to run a checkdisc on your computer. After trying the system restore and only if that does not work you can use your Windows 7 disc to run the diagnostics and try to fix the issue.
